His Excellency Chairman of the Human Rights Commission and Chairman of the Human Rights Council Dr. Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad chaired a virtual meeting of the HRC council today.
During the session, the HRC council noted the Kingdom’s efforts in protecting and promoting human rights. These developments, noted the council, are driven by a strong political will that has played a part in moving the Kingdom, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abduaziz and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman, from commitments to practices in the area of promoting and protecting human rights.
The council stressed that Saudi laws protect the legitimate rights of citizens and expatriates alike, including the right of various faith groups to practice their faith freely in their place of residence.
The council discussed a number of agenda items, including the HRC’s annual 1440-1441 annual report.
